Loox vs REVIEWS.io: Visual UGC or Wider Trust?

Disclosure: We may earn a commission if you install an app through links on this page, at no additional cost to you. This does not affect how we evaluate the apps.

Loox vs REVIEWS.io is a choice about the boundary of your review program. Loox centers the Shopify workflow on product reviews, customer photos and videos, visual merchandising, referrals, and content reuse. REVIEWS.io also collects visual product reviews, but extends the operating model into company reviews, Google Seller Ratings, SMS, surveys, Q&A, and support for ecommerce platforms beyond Shopify. More breadth is not automatically better. It becomes valuable when a named channel or team owns it.

Quick verdict

Choose Loox if customer media on product pages is the primary job and the team wants a focused Shopify system for collection, discovery, display, and reuse.

Choose REVIEWS.io if company-level service feedback, Google Seller Ratings, or a review operation spanning multiple platforms is a defined requirement.

Bottom line: Loox is the cleaner visual-commerce choice. REVIEWS.io is the stronger trust-infrastructure choice when product feedback must sit beside company reputation and seller-level distribution.

How we evaluated Loox and REVIEWS.io

This documentation-based comparison uses current Shopify App Store listings, official pricing, Google-program, import, export, and migration guidance, plus balanced merchant-feedback themes. We did not run a new interface, deliverability, or conversion test. A support complaint or praise is not treated as a universal outcome; it becomes a question to validate during onboarding.

Where the apps overlap

  • Automated post-purchase review invitations
  • Product, photo, and video reviews
  • Customizable storefront widgets and media galleries
  • Google product-review and structured-data workflows on qualifying plans
  • Klaviyo and Shopify ecosystem connections
  • Review imports, exports, moderation, and product grouping

Either app can operate a visual product-review program. The decision starts with the work outside that overlap.

Critical difference 1: company trust is a separate review asset

A product review answers, “Did this item perform?” A company review evaluates the buying experience: service, delivery, returns, or support. REVIEWS.io collects and publishes both types. That gives a merchant a distinct company-level profile and an eligible collection route for Google Seller Ratings.

Google Seller Ratings are not another name for product stars. They can appear with ads to reflect the advertiser's service reputation; Product Ratings belong to specific items. REVIEWS.io is a Google-licensed review partner and documents Seller Ratings on qualifying paid plans. Its current guidance requires at least 100 verified company reviews collected by invitation in each target country during a rolling 24-month period, an average of at least 3.5, and compliance with Google's other rules. Meeting the threshold creates eligibility, but Google controls display.

Loox documents Google Shopping Product Ratings on Convert and Unlimited but explicitly does not support Google Seller Ratings. That is a real limitation for a paid-search team with seller stars in its acquisition plan. It matters much less when the merchant only needs product-page proof and product-feed ratings.

Company reviews also create work: responding to service criticism, routing delivery problems, monitoring country eligibility, and placing company widgets. Without an owner, the second review type may become a neglected profile.

Advantage: REVIEWS.io when company reputation and Seller Ratings have an accountable owner; Loox when the brief remains product-level visual proof.

Critical difference 2: Loox narrows the visual-content loop

Loox's public paid feature set connects video reviews, AI Review Stories, summaries, highlights, sorting, translations, referrals, channel connections, and API/webhooks. The system is designed to collect customer media, surface persuasive submissions, place them across Shopify, and turn satisfied customers into referrers. A lean ecommerce team can build one operating loop around that job.

REVIEWS.io is not weak in visual content. Its Shopify listing includes photo/video collection even on Free, UGC Manager on Launch, and AI summary on Launch Plus. It also adds capabilities outside Loox's main boundary: company reviews, email and SMS collection, surveys/NPS, Q&A, attributes, and multiple users across the displayed Shopify tiers. Official material supports ecommerce platforms beyond Shopify as well.

That breadth suits a business coordinating service, paid media, ecommerce, and reputation. It also increases plan mapping, widget decisions, invitation allocation, and onboarding. A feature earns its place only when it improves a named process.

Do not reduce this to “small store versus large store.” A modest merchant running Google Ads may need Seller Ratings, while a high-volume Shopify brand may still prefer a dedicated visual-review system. The trigger is workflow scope, not revenue shorthand.

Advantage: Loox for a concentrated visual-merchandising and referral system; REVIEWS.io for broader review operations across product, company, and service contexts.

Critical difference 3: pricing meters different activity

After trial, Loox Beginner remains free through 500 cumulative orders and allows 2,000 request emails each month. Convert is $49.99 at 300 monthly orders; every further 300-order block adds $50. It removes the email quota and unlocks video, AI, referrals, integrations, and wider distribution. Unlimited is $299.99 per month.

The REVIEWS.io Shopify listing meters review invites. Free includes 25 per month. Launch costs $19 for 50 invites and adds Review Booster, Google Seller Ratings, rich snippets, UGC Manager, flows, follow-ups, and review snippets. Launch Plus costs $45 for 500 invites and adds attributes, grouping, surveys/NPS, AI summaries, Q&A, and multiple users. Both paid plans advertise a 14-day trial.

Those allowances change the apparent price comparison. REVIEWS.io Launch is cheaper than Loox Convert, but 50 invitations may cover only a fraction of a 300-order store. Launch Plus supplies 500 invites for slightly less than Loox Convert's first order block, yet each app unlocks a different package. A merchant should model orders, invitation coverage, response channels, historical booster sends, and the specific Google or UGC functions required.

REVIEWS.io also sells outside Shopify under different plan names, allowances, currencies, or commercial routes. Recent App Store feedback includes one complaint about price changes and displayed options. That cannot establish a general practice, but it makes a written quote prudent. Confirm the governing contract, invite definition, overages, import/export access, and next volume price.

Advantage: Neither without a usage model. Loox is easier to evaluate by Shopify order volume; REVIEWS.io requires invite coverage plus confirmation of the applicable plan route.

Which operating model fits?

Choose a visual-commerce pilot

Loox has the sharper brief when product photos and videos should become storefront merchandising and reusable social proof. During the 30-day period, measure request delivery, response rate, media rate, moderation time, widget engagement, referral activation, and how much collected content the team actually republishes.

Choose a trust-distribution pilot

REVIEWS.io should lead when the merchant can state why company reviews, Seller Ratings, SMS, or multi-platform support matter. Track separate product/company collection rates, eligible company-review progress by country, invitation consumption, response ownership, widget deployment, and Google-feed readiness.

Avoid paying for unowned scope

If no team owns reputation responses, surveys, paid-search eligibility, or cross-platform review operations, REVIEWS.io's broader surface may sit idle. Conversely, choosing Loox to avoid complexity is false economy when Seller Ratings are a documented acquisition requirement.

REVIEWS.io feedback often praises support and integration help; recent negative reviews describe pricing clarity, escalation delays, flow/widget limits, or import display. Loox feedback praises setup and requests while raising isolated Convert-charge concerns. Pilot the real theme and flow, import a sample, contact support, and obtain limits in writing.

Who should choose each app?

Loox fits merchants who

  • Run primarily on Shopify and treat customer media as product merchandising.
  • Want visual reviews, AI discovery, referrals, and reuse in one focused loop.
  • Do not require Google Seller Ratings or a company-review profile.
  • Can justify Convert's order-block pricing with activated visual workflows.
  • Prefer fewer review types and operational owners.

REVIEWS.io fits merchants who

  • Need both product and company reviews.
  • Have a paid-search case for Google Seller Ratings.
  • Want SMS, surveys, Q&A, attributes, or wider ecommerce-platform support.
  • Can allocate and forecast monthly review invites.
  • Will confirm the exact contract, feature entitlement, and migration window.

Migrating between Loox and REVIEWS.io

Both directions are documented, but the review type and verification status matter more than the CSV itself.

REVIEWS.io supports Loox imports on a qualifying paid plan during the account's first 90 days, with one support-processed request per review type. Product files need correct Order IDs and SKUs. Imports can display but remain third-party, without REVIEWS.io's Verified Buyer badge or eligibility for its Google ratings programs.

Loox provides a dedicated REVIEWS.io CSV importer. REVIEWS.io documents CSV/JSON export on Start-Up and above, while an older Loox help article refers to Grow/Plus access. Confirm the current entitlement before scheduling the cutover. Product reviews and media may transfer, but company reviews, Q&A, survey answers, attributes, verification labels, and Seller Ratings eligibility do not have a guaranteed one-to-one destination.

  1. Export product reviews, company reviews, Q&A, attributes, media, dates, reviewer fields, Order IDs, and SKUs into separate backups.
  2. Obtain written confirmation of import/export eligibility, timing, and review-status treatment.
  3. Test a representative file and reconcile review totals, unmatched SKUs, media URLs, dates, and duplicates.
  4. Rebuild request flows and widgets on a duplicate theme.
  5. Validate product structured data and any Google feeds before changing senders.
  6. Keep the former system available until storefront display, data export, and rollback are confirmed.

Do not promise that imported history will preserve native verification or qualify for an external ratings program.

Final verdict

REVIEWS.io should win when the business case depends on trust beyond the product page. Company reviews, Google Seller Ratings, SMS, Q&A, surveys, and wider platform coverage form a legitimate review-operations layer. The team must be prepared to own that layer and verify its plan route, invitation coverage, and migration rules.

Loox is the stronger choice when visual product proof is the measurable job. It keeps collection, discovery, merchandising, referrals, and reuse inside a narrower Shopify workflow. That focus does not make it a fallback; for a visual brand without a Seller Ratings requirement, it can be the more disciplined system.

Use the extended trial to prove whether customer media becomes an active merchandising asset. If it does, Loox has a qualified advantage without requiring the organization to adopt a broader reputation platform.
